Demystifying LRE and Flexible Programming

Participants will deeply engage with activities that expand their understanding of the NYC Continuum of Services for Students with Disabilities. Teachers and other school staff will gain practical experience in identifying students whose needs are not being met with their current recommendations and plan for the transition to more appropriate recommended services. When considering recommendations to LRE, it is important to assess access to grade-level content area curriculum as well as the ways in which the student and family are supported in understanding the match between needs and services. Discovering the LRE recommendation for each student is a unique individualized process that requires we know the student well academically and socially, and involve all key stakeholders including families.
